Abbie Barnes

'My goal is to make the invisible, visible, by speaking things into the light.

I am not afraid to talk about the hard things in life, especially hidden challenges that many of us face, such as mental illness, chronic pain, and identity crises.

By storytelling through the natural world, I aim to leave my audience feeling validated, inspired, and full of hope, no matter their circumstances.

Get up, get out, and Spend More Time In The WILD.'

Hello and Welcome to my website!

My name is Abbie. I’m a presenter, filmmaker, and mountain leader with a passion for tying wellbeing to expeditions and adventures in the natural world. Ultimately, I am on a life-long mission to empower people to get outside for the benefit of mental and physical health, whilst also giving back to nature to leave the planet in a better place than when we arrived.

Thus, in 2016 I founded Spend More Time In The WILD, an initiative designed to do just that. I believe that Adventure is an Attitude that we can apply to everyday life, and for me that means seeking to place myself in challenging situations where I have to face my fears and illnesses in order to grow through adversity. I then share these experiences through film with the aim of extending a metaphorical hand to you in your situation; to remind you that you are not alone and that you too can be an overcomer.

Within this website you can find out more about my mission and freelance work, as well as explore the goings on within WILD. There are plenty of ways to get stuck in, both online and on the ground!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website.

Stay WILD folks!
